Short Film Competition Regulations
The competition is open to high school students. To support short film productions that do not have a commercial purpose within the scope of Gelisim University inter-high school short film competition, which will be held on May 20, 2024; It organizes a short film competition in order to contribute to the development of fiction, experimental, animation and documentary cinema on a national scale, to bring together filmmakers from abroad and in the country and to raise awareness with the motto of sustainable living.
Article 2: Participation Conditions
a-In order for the competition to take place, at least 16 films (Fiction, Experimental, Animation and Documentary) must have participated and passed the preliminary evaluation. b- 35mm and 16mm films, as well as productions shot with video technique or digital technology, can participate in the short film competition. However, films shot with analog film technique must be transferred to digital media. Screening formats in the Short Film Competition are determined by the festival executive committee. c-Productions whose duration does not exceed a maximum of 15 minutes can participate in the competition. d-Competitors can apply with more than one work. e- Films made in 2022 and 2024 can participate in the competition. Having previously participated in any festival or short film competition or having received an award from these competitions does not prevent you from participating in the competition. f- Pre-applications will be made digitally through the application site directed through the application section https://iguliselerarasikisafilm.gelisim.edu.tr/tr/konferans-anasayfa . They will be asked to fill out and return an application form for the works that make it into the top 24. g- It is mandatory for the applicant films to have embedded English subtitles. (in non-English movies) h- Among the films participating in the competition, 24 films will meet the audience within the scope of the festival. Authors of 8 films among the finalist films will be invited to the competition premiere to be held at Istanbul Gelisim University within the scope of the festival. i- The transportation fees of the finalists who reside outside Istanbul, among the authors of the first 8 films, will be covered by the competition committee, and the transportation fees of the other authors will not be covered. The university is not responsible for the accommodation, food, etc. fees of the authors. j- The Owner of the Award-Winning Work Must Be Attendance at the Award Ceremony or Send a Representative to Receive His Award. To the Author of the Work Who Does Not Fulfill This Condition; No Prizes, Including Monetary Prizes, Will Be Given. K- The last day to participate in the competition is May 3, 2024. Online applications must be made by this date. If the movie is encrypted, the movie and its e-mail address must be uploaded to https://iguliselerarasikisafilm.gelisim.edu.tr/tr/konferans-anasayfa , which is directed to the application on the site by sharing it with its password. l- When the contestant applies online, he/she accepts the competition conditions of the festival. m - Films that do not meet the application requirements may be excluded from the competition by the festival management, even if they pass the preliminary selection.
Article 3: Documents to be Sent by the Owners of 24 Works Included in the Festival Selection
Owners of works included in the festival selection are required to upload their e-mail addresses when uploading their films to https://iguliselerarasikisafilm.gelisim.edu.tr/tr/konferans-anasayfa . The application form can be sent via e-mail, if deemed necessary. The form must be filled out and returned.
Article 4: Festival Committee Proposal
The pre-selection committee consists of experts selected by the competition executive committee and/or the festival executive committee. The festival board determines the number of members of the board that will make the preliminary selection. Works that do not meet the participation conditions will not be shown to the pre-selection committee. The finalist works are announced on the website after they are determined by the preliminary committee.
Article 5: Special Conditions
The owners of the works who have applied to the competition are deemed to have accepted this condition unconditionally if some of the copies to be kept in the festival archive after the competition, not exceeding 60 seconds, the film's poster or a few frames from the film are shown in visual and printed media for promotional purposes. No royalties will be charged for the screening of the shortlisted films in public places within the scope of the festival. When the contestant applies online, he/she accepts the competition conditions of the festival. Non-original music, photographs, videos, etc. may be included in the application works. The copyright responsibility of the contents belongs to the applicant author. The legal owner of the film undertakes to the festival committee that the film is completely legal and copyright-compliant. The author undertakes that all intellectual and industrial rights, including copyright, of his work in the competition belong to him. The owner of the work irrevocably declares, accepts and undertakes that if third parties claim rights regarding this work, all responsibility will belong to him and that the University has no liability. Productions are presented to the audience and the selection committee in halls deemed appropriate by the festival management. Changes in sessions, halls and programs cannot be recommended. The conditions under which films will be voted and rewarded are determined by the festival committee. The responsibility of sending the application form for the films to be determined as a result of the pre-selection belongs to the owner of the work. The decisions of the pre-selection jury and the competition jury are final. The participant cannot withdraw his/her film after the preliminary selection results are announced. No participation or screening fee is paid for the films participating in the competition
